Memorial Weekend

Goodness, I feel like I packed in a lot this past weekend. It was a long weekend for Memorial Day and I enjoyed it! Saturday, Carissa and I drove out to the San Diego Wild Animal Park and had fun seeing all the animals and taking photos:
Carissa and I on our way to do the "Journey Into Africa" tour....
the leopards sleeping in the shade
not sure what the giraffe is doing
the gorilla that loved to pose, decided to pick its butt for the photo! - nice one! :)
not sure what this little critter is, but he was cute!
the sleeping flamingo
check out the rhinos!
lions sleeping on an old jeep

Later that night, we met up with our other friend Kristy who was house-sitting in SD for the weekend (and we were going to stay with her). The three of us went to Old Town San Diego for some good Mexican food...and spent the evening having good discussions about our faith and life in general :) Very good times!
The Three Amigos!!

Carissa and I drove back home on Sunday afternoon. I came home and cleaned around my house, continued to unpack (which is taking me forever), and then took a much needed two hour nap! Then I spent the rest of the evening watching movies all cuddled up on my couch. I stayed on the couch most of Monday too...just relaxing.

All in all, it was a great weekend! I wish it could've lasted a bit longer...as I'm sure you all do as well! I hope your weekend was as fun as mine!

Indiana Jones...

Today was the opening day for the new movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with this movie. I was pretty excited to see it, as the other Indy movies were good...but this one just didn't do it for me. Pretty cheeseball if you ask me! Um hello, space aliens? What were they thinking?? Oh well, it was entertaining and I had fun hanging out with my girlfriends Carissa and Kristy (my sweet friends!). So if you're thinking about seeing this movie...don't get your hopes up too high...but go see it purely for entertainment value :)

Oh, the '909'...

So I was pretty miserable this weekend (weather wise)! We had very HOT weather out here in the '909' and it wasn't so enjoyable. I didn't mind the heat so much while living at the beach because I had the nice ocean breeze coming through my apartment...but out here in the Inland Empire, its blazing hot! My house has no breeze, no central AC, no pool, no beach....so sad!!! I have a little wall unit that was on all weekend, but you'd never know it. It didn't cool the place down at all. It had to be at least 90 degrees in my house and in the 100's outside :( I miss the beach!!!

Besides the weather, I had a good weekend. I spent some time with friends, did a little painting at mom's house, unpacked some more at my house, and had some alone time watching movies and eating goodies :)

Comfy & Cozy

So we are having some cooler weather this evening with a little rain...and its perfect for cuddling up on the couch and watching a movie. I've got my popcorn and my favorite...peanut M&Ms :) I think its going to be a good night! Movie night, here I come!!! (I hope it keeps raining!)

Happy Mom's Day!! :)

This was my first year not being able to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom. I'm glad that I was able to visit her last weekend, but it still wasn't the same not being with her today. BUT, I was able to spend this day with a very special family that I've known my whole life...the Lollis' and their mother Darlene Lemon. It was so special for them to have everyone together as Darlene's health is not doing that well. I was so thankful that I could be a part of their day and enjoy those special moments with Darlene.
To all you mother's out there...
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
And to my mom....
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!

12k - Bloomsday or Doomsday?! :)

So this weekend I flew up to Washington to visit with my family. I spent all day Friday thrift and antique shopping with mom in Ephrata and then that night mom, Ray and I drove out to Cheney to visit with Troy, Emily and Kae. Troy coaches little league and so we went to his game that night to cheer them on. Saturday we all hung out together...we drove into Spokane to pick up our race information (for Bloomsday) and then hit a few stores along the way. I found some cool stuff at Valley Village, their local thrift store! :) We had yummy burgers and dogs that Troy grilled up for us that night. Then came Sunday....race day! We headed out early morning to Spokane for the race (with 50,000 other people!). It was a little chilly before we started, but by the time the gunshot sounded, we had warmed up.
So everyone was throwing their sweatshirts up in the trees along the street - it looked cool...Then we headed out through the start line for our 12k race! Well, I wouldn't say I was racing, but it was definitely a long and tiring journey! :) I had a great time with my new step-sister Emily. Em and I stayed together and did the whole walk/run, while Ray-Ray and Troy-Boy ran the entire thing! Of course they finished WAY before us...I'm very proud of the boys! After doing the race myself, I know how difficult it is to even finish, let alone run it all! and DOOMSDAY hill was the worst! It was neverending...I can't believe they ran it! I had a hard enough time walking it! But I'm proud of all of us!Anyway, by mile 7 I was pretty much ready to be done!!! I had to take a picture with the sign though, cuz I was proud that I made it that far!! Actually we stopped and took a few pictures along the 7.5 miles we did! haha :) As we were nearing the finish line, what better way to complete the race than to run through with the song "Gonna Fly Now" from Rocky being played...got me so pumped to finish! :) Made me feel like I had just run up all those stairs that he did in that movie while he was training! heehee :) Oh, and don't you love how it says "SMILE" at the finish line! Oh yes, I was happy it was over!! :) Anyway, we had a great time, but I was pooped afterwards! I slept for most of the day after that. Not sure if I would do it again next year...ask me in a few weeks...I may forget about the pain and exhaustion! :) Well, the weekend was great! It was so nice to spend time with everyone, especially my mom! I miss seeing her all the time! Their new house looks so nice with all their stuff moved in...looks like "home" :) I'm so happy for them, and am glad that they're enjoying being married! I look forward to my next trip up to WA, hopefully it won't be too far off! Well, that's the update for now...stay tuned for more to come! :)
