Run, Walk & Roll for Mobility - 5k

On 2/3/08 I had my first 5k...and it was a hurricane outside!! Well, not really, but it seemed like it. We had pouring rain, wind, and cold...my ipod went dead half way through the race because of the wetness. But it was so fun, and it was nice crossing the finish line running!! :) I look forward to running more races in the future!

His Promise....

I just love it when I see rainbows after stormy weather,
Its a reminder to us of God's Promise He made to Noah...

God promised that the earth and every living thing on it would never again be destroyed by a flood. The sign of God's promise is the RAINBOW! :)

Genesis 9:8-17

8 Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,

9 "Now behold, I Myself do establish My covenant with you, and with your descendants after you;

10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle , and every beast of the earth with you; of all that comes out of the ark, even every beast of the earth.

11 "I establish My covenant with you; and all the flesh shall never again be cutt off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth."

12 God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations;

13 I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.

14 "It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud,

15 and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never agains shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16 "When the bow is in the cloud, then I will look upon it, to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth."

17 And God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth."

Little Orphan "Annie"

Good news folks....I was driving home from the gym the other night and there was a surprise for me in the street. This cute little dog was in the middle of the street licking...something. :) Anyway, I nearly hit the little thing and had to make a sudden stop. So I sat there for a bit and she didn't even notice me. So as I got out of my car and headed towards her on foot, she looked up, rolled over on her back and wanted me to pet her. She was soooo cute!- well, besides the super dirty and matted coat of hair she had. Nevertheless, I took her home and gave her a bath. After calling around, no one had reported her missing...so I decided to keep her for my very own. Last week was our first week together and we had lots of fun! She got to go to the park, we did some shopping...yes shopping! she was in my purse, met some new people, and we went to the beach! I love having her in my life and feel like God knew exactly what I needed to cheer me up! She has been so wonderful (well, besides the lack of potty training). So here she is, and I think the name fits her, Little Orphan "Annie"......

VASQUEZ Rocks!! - and the Getty Museum

So, I never knew there was a park with my same name! So I was surprised when I heard on the news the other day about the Vasquez Rocks. "Spok" from Star Trek was being interview on the news during my lunch break and they mentioned that one of the episodes was filmed at the Vasquez Rocks. So, I decided to check it out and see what it was about.

My two girlfriends, Carissa and Kristy, are sweet girls that I went to high school with. We were cheerleaders together :) Anyway, as we're nearing our thirties, life has brought us all back to Chino and living with our parents! Imagine that! haha :) Since we're all pretty poor these days, we have been making a list of all the local things we can do and see that are free (or cheap). So we took the drive out to the Vasquez Rocks and did some hiking and photography.

We had a great time hanging out with each other and being in nature. The rocks are amazing (as you can see in the pictures) and very fun to hike around. I would suggest visiting them, if you're local :) It’s a good time being out in the fresh air, getting some exercise, and enjoying great friends!

So hiking the rock was harder than I thought it would be...I didn't make it very far :)

By the way, I took one of the rocks even though I wasn't supposed to. I mean, I am a Vasquez and I should have a "Vasquez Rock" of my very own, right? :)

THE GETTY:
After our morning/afternoon of hiking, we decided to spend the rest of the day at the Getty Museum. It was a long day of walking around through all the buildings, but the art was amazing! Towards the end of the day there, we were able to watch the sunset over the ocean. It was very beautiful. Then we drove around Beverly Hills for awhile trying to check out all the sites, and then drove over to The Grove and had dinner at the Farmer's Market area. It was a long day, but a great one! I love my friends and am so glad that we're able to spend more time together now that we're all back "home". I hope that the three of us will have many more adventures together!! :)

A New Year....

California Winter

You know, sometimes I wish I lived in a place where we had distinct seasons...but I just can't help enjoy the fabulous weather we have here year-round in CA! :) My mom and I drove along the coast today, starting in Dana Point and ending in Huntington Beach. We stopped at a few antique stores, ate some lunch at the harbor, and stopped quite a few times so I could take some photos. Good times with mom, and great weather along the coast. I don't think you can beat the CA weather!

Merry Christmas!

Well, this holiday was a little bit different. My mom's boyfriend and his kids came down from WA to celebrate with us the week before Christmas. We had a great time getting to know the Audets. A few days after they arrived, Ray-Ray proposed to my mom, and they were engaged! They haven't set a date yet, but we're gonna start planning a wedding! Crazy! :) - but exciting! We spent a great deal of time eating (or at least talking about food), visiting relatives, froliking on the beach, having a gingerbread house contest, taking tons of pictures, and just hanging out talking. Good times for sure!

Since my mom will be getting married, this will most-likely be our last Christmas in the house I grew up in. That was a bit depressing for me. But I know that bringing the two families together is going to be great, and the new traditions we will start are going to be very special. I hope you all had as special a Christmas as we did!
